The basic premise of the game is to be dealt cards totaling up to twenty one. Each gambler is given 2 cards. When a blackjack player is dealt a 9 or less and an Ace they have been given a soft hand. When the black jack player is dealt no Ace cards it is referred to as a hard hand. Once the cards have been handed to all players at the blackjack table, including the dealer, every player is given the opportunity to make 1 of six choices:
Requesting another card (Hit): When a blackjack player announces hit me the croupier will give him another card, if the addition of that card makes the total greater than 21 the player will have busted and be excluded from the game, if the card makes the value of the hand to 21 the black jack player is the winner and if the total has not yet reached twenty-one they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been given: If a blackjack player is happy with the hand they’ll hold. Once this has happened the dealer will show his/her hand and the gambler who has gotten 21 or the closet to twenty-one will come away with a win.
Doubling Down: A player might request to double down which doubles the bet they have laid. Once you’ve taken this procedure you can only be given 1 additional card. The details of doubling down are normally out lined by the table or casino game rules so prior to betting make sure you are comfortable with the casino established rules. If you are wagering at a net casino this is normally quite simple.
